About the Game

After the revolutionary GTA 3 and the equally triumphant GTA: Vice City, the gaming community was expecting the new installment to be “GTA 4”, but it was obvious that the developers were finishing the last chapter of the trilogy. Therefore, there were no bold promises in terms of technical improvements: slightly upgraded graphics and the same engine. In any case, the game did not flop, and many fans of the series still consider it one of the best among all “car theft” games.

The animation and physics in the game were improved. Perhaps the game was still far from realistic gestures, facial expressions, and behavior of characters and vehicles, but it was definitely a step forward. If the car physics sometimes behaved unpredictably, the physics of airplanes, bicycles, and watercraft were implemented much better. The appearance of bicycles and the ability to perform jumps inspired many stunt enthusiasts who had memorized ramps and trick spots in Vice City almost by heart.

In addition to the huge number of vehicles, players were also delighted by the large amount of weapons in the game — you can find almost anything in GTA: San Andreas. Rocket launchers, heat vision goggles, night vision goggles, spray cans, fire extinguishers, tear gas grenades, silenced pistols, and much more. Unfortunately, the blood screen splashes — those that appeared on the other side of the monitor/TV after using the chainsaw — disappeared. It seems this was an attempt to “soften” the game's age rating, although later the game still received its “18+” label for other reasons.
