Nintendo Switch 2: No GTA 5 and RDR 2, But One Wild Price Tag

A week ago, the previously scheduled full presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2 took place. According to rumors, the launch lineup of the new hybrid console was supposed to include RDR 2 and even GTA 5. Expectations were especially high after the encouraging comments from the head of Take-Two. However, neither of these games has been confirmed.
The creators of the NS2 admitted they almost named their next console Super Nintendo Switch. But they dropped the idea, citing how, back in the 80s and 90s, the SNES couldn’t run games from the original Nintendo Entertainment System. In this case, however, backward compatibility is in place — Nintendo Switch 2 will support nearly everything released on the original. There are just over a hundred titles currently facing compatibility issues, but even those might get resolved eventually. Most importantly, the list doesn’t include L.A. Noire, GTA: Trilogy — Definitive Edition, or Red Dead Redemption (with Undead Nightmare), meaning Rockstar fans will still have plenty to play while waiting for the flagship titles.

The hottest topic surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 is its pricing policy. Not only did the Japanese company set a hefty price tag (450 USD, 469 EUR, or 396 GBP), but on the same day as the reveal, U.S. President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on imported goods. As a result, pre-orders for the NS2 in the States (and beyond) have been delayed — and the price may rise even further. The launch is scheduled for June 5.
