An unexpected announcement of the Man of Honor expansion for Mafia: The Old Country has raised several questions. Some of them were answered by game director Alex Cox and creative director Josh Zammit from Hangar 13.

Price and Length

The DLC will be sold separately for $10 — one-fifth of the base game’s $50 price tag. Players must own the main game to access the expansion. Even owners of the Deluxe Edition will not receive it for free and will have to purchase it.

The story takes place between Chapters 5 and 6 and adds two new chapters. They can be played either as part of the main campaign or independently. Since an average chapter lasts around 40 minutes, Ennio Salieri’s story is unlikely to take more than 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. Exploring the new content added to Free Ride mode will likely require a similar amount of time.

Is the experience worth the asking price? Probably not. That is why it may be worth waiting for a Complete Edition.

Development and Story

According to the developers, a story expansion was not part of the original plan. The idea only emerged in late September, when the success of the Mafia prequel had become apparent and more than six weeks had passed since its release.

The team’s biggest challenge was creating a believable portrayal of a familiar character. He is 25 years younger than the version players know from Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven and Mafia: Definitive Edition. He has not yet moved to America, although he is already planning to do so. His ambitions make Enzo consider a similar path, while Cesare views him as a role model despite his still-young age. He has also not yet developed his signature accent.

A New Actor

For these reasons, the character is not portrayed by Glenn Taranto, the actor well known to fans. His voice can be heard in the trailer, and Ennio’s in-game appearance also closely resembles him.
However, the role has now been handed over to 36-year-old Andrew Russell, who both provided Salieri’s voice and performed the motion capture.
