74Take-Two November financial report for the last quarter turned out quite interesting. But let’s start with the numbers.
Sales Figures
- GTA 5 and GTA Online — 220 million copies sold (+5M). The gap with the number-one spot keeps shrinking, but it’s unlikely to ever catch up to Minecraft.
- Grand Theft Auto series overall — 460 million copies sold (+5M).
We continue to supply content to GTA Online, and in fact we’ve had terrific results there. And GTA+ continues to grow its membership. In fact, it’s had 20% growth year-over-year.
- RDR 2 and Red Dead Online — 79 million copies sold (+2M), the western jumped two spots in the rankings — from sixth to fourth. The road to third place lies ahead.
- Red Dead series overall — 106 million copies sold (+2M).
What we suspected was confirmed. Which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that’s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result. No clear answer was given when asked about the future of the series.
We’re really excited about Mafia, and I think that’s a great question because it is sort of a reset for the franchise. We don’t have anything to announce — that comes from the label — but it definitely performed well ahead of expectations. The full presentation can be accessed here.
