When asked about the future of GTA Online after the release of GTA 6, Strauss Zelnick responded as follows:
I have very reason to believe we’ll continue to support Grand Theft Auto Online. There’s a great community that loves it, that stays engaged. And, again, in this quarter, Rockstar has shown that when you deliver great additional content, despite how long product has been in the market, people show up.
The head of the company also spoke very firmly about the ban on missions that recreated the murder of Charlie Kirk:
When content violates our Terms of Service, we aggressively act, as we did in this instance. I actually am incredibly impressed with this company, on the one hand, it appropriately enables users to engage — that’s why we are in the role-playing service business, for example — and we have other areas where consumers can engage. At the same time, the safety of our consumers is of paramount importance. So this is not an area where I have to say, like, ‘Oh, you know, it’s a gray area. Judgment is required’. No. Terms of Service were violated, that’s end of discussion, thank you very much.
The CEO was also asked about the collaboration with Netflix, which has already proven successful for GTA: Trilogy — Definitive Edition and marked the debut of RDR 1.
It’s been great. It’s been great for the business, it’s been great for the consumers. We’ve said several times, we’re not precious about distribution. We want the broadest possible distribution, as long as it makes sense for consumers, and as long as it’s beneficial, of course, for us and our creators.
