Rockstar Games has already released L.A. Noire, GTA: Trilogy — Definitive Edition, and the first Red Dead Redemption on the Nintendo Switch. RDR 2 could have been Rockstar’s fourth game on the console years ago: initial talks about this version reportedly date back to 2019, though significant reasons to expect a release only emerged in 2023. However, it still hasn’t happened. Perhaps Nintendo decided that the popular Western would be better suited as a game to launch their next console?
At least, that’s what certain rumors suggest. On Thursday, a European Article Number (EAN) was discovered for some potential titles for the new platform. Two of them are linked to Take-Two (the parent company of Rockstar), but only one has a listed price — €80! Online speculation indicates that RDR 2 is one of the Take-Two games planned for Nintendo Switch 2. The second could be any other Rockstar project, such as GTA 5.
Then, on Friday, a source who previously leaked information about the PS5 Pro before its official announcement shared details about the release of Nintendo Switch 2. According to them, the next generation of the hybrid console will be revealed in a week, on January 17, with sales beginning on March 3. Red Dead Redemption 2 will reportedly be one of the launch titles available for the new console. If this turns out to be true, it would mean that this version of RDR 2 will be released faster than the long-awaited next-gen patch for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
