Next-Gen Upgrade for GTA 5 and GTA Online on PC Launches March 4

Rockstar Games has announced that the PC version of GTA 5 will receive a free next-gen upgrade in one and a half weeks — on Tuesday, March 4. On the same day, the second part of the winter update for GTA Online will be released, introducing the ability to purchase McKenzie Field in Grapeseed, previously owned by Trevor.

Three years after, GTA 5 and GTA Online on PC will be upgraded to match the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

A range of technical improvements.

Ray tracing features only available on PC such as ambient occlusion and global illumination — plus ray traced shadows and reflections first debuted on consoles.
Support for AMD FSR1 and FSR3, and NVIDIA DLSS 3.
Faster loading times using SSD and DirectStorage on supported devices and configurations.
Enhanced support for higher resolutions, higher aspect ratios, and higher framerates.
PlayStation 5 DualSense controller support, with adaptive triggers.
Enhanced audio with support for Dolby Atmos and improved fidelity of speech, cinematics, and music.

Enhanced graphics and performance, especially for high-end PCs.

Of course, players will need a compatible PC to take full advantage of these improvements. The recommended and minimum system requirements are as follows.

GTA 5 / GTA Online system requirements after upgrade.

Players who don’t upgrade due to hardware limitations can still play and receive updates. However, they won’t be able to join sessions with those who have upgraded to the next-gen version (a new client will be required for that). To continue playing with friends, ensure that everyone is using the same version of GTA Online. FiveM support will remain, and later it will be integrated with the updated version. Once that happens, the same compatibility rules will apply.

PC owners will be able to subscribe to GTA+ for $8 per month. The subscription grants access to select Rockstar Games titles and various perks in GTA Online, including half a million, free vehicles, additional bonuses, exclusive clothing, and more. Notably, subscribers will have access to the spacious Vinewood Club Garage with 100 parking spaces, featuring useful functions such as instant collection of earnings from all businesses at once.

One of the most exciting features available to subscribers is, of course, the Vinewood Club Garage.

The PC version will also introduce Career Progress and Career Builder. The first is a reward system granted for completing specific tasks in different areas of the game. The second is a service for beginners that will allow them to quickly get acquainted with important professions in Los Santos, such as an Executive, Gunrunner, Nightclub Owner, or Biker, while also providing a starting capital of GTA$ 4,000,000.

The game world will become even more immersive with the introduction of animals in free mode. Cats, deer, sharks, and many other creatures will appear in the city and Blaine County, along with Wildlife Photography Challenge.

Deer are just one of the 30 species of wildlife that players will encounter.

A special highlight is everything related to HSW (Hao’s Special Works), including exclusive races and time trials that update weekly, as well as Hao’s custom tuning, which can be applied at the LS Car Meet.

Hao will find a way to surprise PC players.

Five vehicles, previously exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, will become available to PC owners:
