Deeper Integration of Onlines with Discord

This year, Rockstar Games launched an official server on Discord, while last year, a quest was held that allowed players to obtain a limited-time avatar decoration in the form of a Los Santos signet ring. It seems that the collaboration between the companies hasn’t ended there, and we can expect deeper platform integration into Rockstar’s projects. With the release of the Software Development Kit, devs can now implement a system called Discord Rich Presence into their games. This feature allows users to see what their friends are doing in-game (for example, participating in the Cayo Perico Heist; console players will understand), send and receive invites, and even join friends’ sessions directly. Tez2 reports that this functionality has already been added to GTA 5 and RDR 2 but has not yet been activated. However, once it goes live, players will have the option to disable it in the RGL settings.

The same source believes that Rockstar could use the SDK tools to implement messaging in GTA Online Enhanced on PC. This would eliminate the need for the traditional text chat, resolving one of the main issues with this version.
