We often post content on our socials that might not be worthy of a full standalone material — usually fan-made videos and illustrations. And so that our visitors don’t miss out, even if they’re not following GCU elsewhere, we compile these kinds of roundups.
ChatGPT has been trained to create anime-style images inspired by Japan’s Studio Ghibli, and now the Internet is flooded with them. Among them are altered frames from the GTA 6 Trailer 1.
However, Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki called AI-generated 3D animation “an insult to life itself” back in 2016. It’s unlikely the master would appreciate such “masterpieces”.
A far more meaningful expression of art? Paintings made by real people. Remember when fans hoped Grand Theft Auto VI would take place in the 1980s? But what if the game itself had come out 35 years ago? The creators of a remake trailer didn’t just capture the visual style of the era — they even went the extra mile with an authentically retro soundtrack. An unofficial guide has been spotted in Target stores across the U.S., covering the history of the GTA series — and even featuring maps of LC from GTA 3 and VC from GTA: Vice City. Shawn Fonteno, who played Franklin in GTA 5, got so into character that he’s apparently still out there jacking cars in real life. Fonteno and Ned Luke also appeared on a fun show where actors try to guess quotes and lines from the games and movies they’ve been a part of. LEGO enthusiast Firan Bricks recreated the GTA: San Andreas cover art using actual bricks. Viewers were so impressed by a shot from the movie Novocaine that they want to see Jack Quaid in the role of Max Payne. In the March 2025 GTA+ bonus pack for GTA Online, the developers mentioned both Canada and the UK — which might not be just a coincidence…
