Just now, MindsEye has officially launched across all major platforms: PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game has been heavily promoted over the past few days. Leslie Benzies, head of Build a Rocket Boy, played as Jacob Diaz on camera and attended the IGN Live event.
More footage was revealed during an IO Interactive (co-developers of the project) Showcase, where they also presented 007: First Light, a new James Bond game, and a fresh contract for Agent 47 involving the elimination of Le Chiffre (played by the inimitable Mads Mikkelsen), a classic Bond villain.
The release trailer for MindsEye ended with a surprise — the protagonist from the HITMAN series appearing in Redrock. A crossover is promised to drop later this summer.
However, what should have been a big day for the developers was somewhat undercut — and not because of the recent controversy. The issue lies in the fact that some players received retail copies of MindsEye last week and managed to finish the game ahead of release. Earning the platinum trophy on PlayStation 5 reportedly takes about 20 hours. In response, BARB staff published an open letter asking the community not to spoil the story for others.
Another curious aspect — the complete absence of reviews at launch. Media outlets didn’t receive review copies, and there was no standard embargo on critiques either.
