In our social media we often post content that doesn’t quite fit into a full-fledged article. Most of the time it’s fan-made videos and illustrations. To make sure our visitors don’t miss it — even if they don’t follow GCU elsewhere — we put together these roundups.
Apparently, this is how Lucia is imagined by those who believe
GTA 6 will feature a weight-gain system.
In September, Apple held its presentation, and one of the live segments was broadcast from Miami. Do you think that was intentional, aiming to ride the Grand Theft Auto VI hype?
A few videos from Retro World Expo:
GTA 5 actors answering fan questions, with Steven Ogg (Trevor) even brought a fan to tears. In another clips, they were asked about the next installment. Ned Luke (Michael) joked that his main mission would be to finding not a huge butt. Ogg, meanwhile, repeated once again that he never played GTA V and doesn’t care about a sequel. For some reason, this still came as a genuine shock to fans, even though we talked about it back
in February. What did surprise us, however, was the passion with which Ogg spoke about reading Dostoevsky. The westerns trend of dragging this author into the world as some kind of marker of “intellect” and “enlightenment” is truly baffling.
Epic Games Store shared a stunning photo set showcasing GTA V Enhanced. Every shot was made in Rockstar Editor without mods.
One of the biggest online trends in recent months has been pixel drawing on the collaborative map platform
wplace.live. Unsurprisingly, Tahiti has been completely taken over by
RDR 2 fans. Other parts of the map are crammed full, yet some prime spots went to iconic images: a massive GTA VI logo and Tommy Vercetti (
GTA: Vice City) off the coast of Miami; the Pay ’n’ Spray icon from
GTA 3 and some Lemmings (from DMA Design’s hit series long before Grand Theft Auto) in Dundee, the birthplace of the franchise; a small GTA logo and a single lemming in Edinburgh, home of Rockstar North.
Another recent trend: recognizing something from simplified sketches (pattern recognition tests). Anyone who’s played Grand Theft Auto V should instantly recall these scenes.
Less than week ago in the MLS (the North American soccer league), New York City hosted Inter Miami (the match ended 0–4). The home fans unveiled a cool GTA-style banner with the words LIBERTY OVER VICE. The phrase carries several layers of meaning, including a political one. But it’s also a clever play on the names of two iconic GTA cities: Liberty City (New York) and Vice City (Miami).
You won’t find many modifications for Mafia: The Old Country, but the ones that exist are hilarious. Thanks to them, you can turn into CJ from
GTA: San Andreas (classic!) and ride across Sicily on Donkey from Shrek.
On August 18, Remedy Entertainment — the studio behind the first two Max Payne games — celebrated its 30th anniversary by releasing a collection of merch. Among the items was protagonist’s shirt (now sold out). It looks a bit different from the one in Max Payne 1 — apparently because that one was also modeled after a real shirt from Sam Lake’s wardrobe. Price tag: $50.
IGN held a poll among its readers to determine the greatest racing video game of all time. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition made it through several rounds to reach the top 8, but in the quarterfinals, users favored Forza Horizon 5.
Rockstar Games followers on Instagram might have noticed an unusual story repost — an ad for lingerie. The explanation is simple: it’s the brand of Anouchka Houser, wife of R* head Sam Hauser. Being a good husband, he just gave his wife a little promo boost. She’s helped out, too — lending her voice to minor characters in GTA: SA (pedestrian),
GTA: LCS (commercial),
GTA: VCS (co-host on Wave 103), and
GTA 4 (commercial).
