Zelnick Accused of Fraud, Not Sexual Harassment

1Over the past couple of days, headlines have popped up online saying things like: “Take-Two CEO accused of sexual harassment”. Shocking, right? But that’s not quite true. Actually, it’s not true at all.
People have been digging into the details of a lawsuit that’s been ongoing in Los Angeles since last year. The case is actually about fraud. A man identified as John Doe (that’s not a real name, just a legal placeholder for an anonymous or unknown party) claims that Harry Strauss Zelnick, who invested $10 million in his business, later took that business away from him.
For corporate big shots — especially in the U.S., where lawsuits are filed left and right — that’s nothing out of the ordinary. And guilt still has to be proven in court. But reputational damage can already be done, especially when the plaintiff throws in some spicy details. In describing his relationship with the defendant, Doe calls Zelnick a “sexual predator”. Court filings also include the following claims:

Zelnick repeatedly invited Doe to Zelnick’s hotel room to shower. Zelnick walked into a private bathroom where Doe was showering and stared at Doe’s penis while Zelnick rubbed lotion on his own body. Zelnick repeatedly disrobed and exposed himself to Doe without invitation or warning. And Zelnick repeatedly sent scores of unsolicited text messages containing half-naked photos of Zelnick.
