Insider: Cryptocurrency Removed From GTA 6

7Back in 2021, well-known insider Tom Henderson claimed that GTA 6 was set to feature cryptocurrency as one of the payment methods for completing various jobs. However, nearly five years later, he stated that the in-game equivalent of -coins was removed from the project some time ago.
He separately emphasized that the system had been planned strictly as an alternative reward for completing missions and had nothing to do with real-life cryptocurrency exchange schemes. All speculation about earning real money through Grand Theft Auto VI was either pure fantasy or deliberate misinformation.
It’s quite disappointing if this alternative payment method has indeed been scrapped, as it would have fit perfectly into the modern setting, where illegal activities are often financed with crypto. Still, there is little doubt that GTA VI will satirize cryptocurrency in some form — perhaps through its own parody version or at least through humorous dialogue, much like Lamar and NFTs in GTA Online.
I believe this was scrapped years ago

It was just another means of "payment" for missions like in-game cash or whatever. I think people thought you could actually connect your GTA account with real-life crypto, which was never the case lol
