The trend of avoiding GTA 6, which was already noticeable during several previous presentations, continued at the Xbox Games Showcase.
The newly announced games are scheduled for release in the summer, September, early October, or even February:
  • DOOM: The Dark Ages — Revelations — July 7;
  • Halo: Campaign Evolved — July 28;
  • Minecraft Dungeons II — September 29;
  • Gears of War: E-Day — October 6;
  • Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse — October 15;
  • Metro 2039 — February;
  • Fable — February 23.
Several other projects are planned for later dates without specific release windows and are expected to launch sometime in 2027.

Company representatives even issued an official statement explicitly saying that, due to the crowded release calendar this year — including Grand Theft Auto VI — Fable was postponed to early next year.

Asha Sharma, who succeeded Phil Spencer as Xbox CEO just a few months ago and has already spoken about returning to the brand’s roots and focusing on more exclusives, also shared her thoughts on GTA VI. She said she is extremely impressed by the game and believes it has already become one of the most important parts of modern culture — something Xbox wants to support and celebrate.
