GTA 6 Still Not Fully Filled With Content? The Third Delay Not Ruled Out?

In an episode of The Ringer-Verse podcast dedicated to the most anticipated video games of 2026, respected journalist Jason Schreier shared his thoughts on GTA 6.
  • Based on the latest information he has heard, the game is still not content complete. Developers are continuing to work on missions, deciding which ones to keep and which to cut. This stage comes after core functionality has been completed and before bug fixing begins.
  • November 19 looks more realistic than fall 2025 or May 2026. However, it is currently difficult to say whether the release will actually happen on that date. Even Rockstar Games themselves cannot answer that with 100% certainty. The studio is striving for perfection, and if they decide more time is needed, another delay could occur.
  • Take-Two future depends entirely on this project, and the corporation is prepared for any outcome, as it has room until the end of the fiscal year on March 31, 2027.

Immediately after this, numerous fan pages and even some major media outlets rushed out headlines about an inevitable postponement. This led to a drop in the publisher’s stock price, resulting in losses of millions of dollars, as well as an increased likelihood of a delay according to bookmakers. A Bloomberg journalist even had to issue clarifications regarding his words, which had simply been twisted.

This is a complete misunderstanding of what I said, which is that I wouldn't be shocked if GTA6 *does* come out this fall, following the same delay pattern as RDR2. Of course another delay is possible. It's a video game. But this blog post is very misleading (just reach out to me - it's not hard!)

The first statement slightly contradicts what several sources had previously reported, but insider Tom Henderson explains that content readiness and content completion are not the same thing. As an example, he points to RDR 2, whose content was still being created four months before launch. However, even if the next trailer reveals an official date, it shouldn’t be taken as a certainty. He also believes that no matter what happens, Grand Theft Auto VI will sell anyway — even if it launches three years from now at a price of $100.
