The Game Awards 2025 Results: Another Win for GTA 6, Dan Houser Appearance, and More

This year, The Game Awards felt somewhat predictable. Half-Life 3 still wasn’t announced, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home Game of the Year, setting a couple of event records — most nominations (12) and most wins (9). Still, there were plenty of great reveals: two new Tomb Raider projects (one brand-new game and one remake of the very first title), the third trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem, the debut of the Control sequel, and much more.
Any of the games nominated for Most Anticipated Game could have easily won — if they weren’t up against GTA 6. It earned this title for the second year in a row. Let’s hope it avoids a hat trick next year — after that, only GOTY remains.

But there were surprises after all. The award for Best Narrative was presented by Dan Houser — the former Rockstar Games Vice Pesident responsible for the stories of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead.

In a slightly more playful tone, but with equally serious competition, Grand Theft Auto VI grabbed another similar win. A day before TGA, the well-known retail chain GameStop handed out its own awards.
