191Update from February 9. PSN was restored overnight, but the reasons for the outage were not explained. The disruption lasted less than 24 hours. As compensation, PlayStation Plus subscribers will automatically receive 5 additional days of service.
It’s been 18 hours since PlayStation Network servers went down. When launching their consoles, users receive a notification about technical maintenance. However, this is an unscheduled outage, as no prior announcements were made. Shortly after the incident, company representatives acknowledged the issue but did not provide any details. What happened and when the problem will be resolved remains unknown. For now, players are unable to access GTA Online, Red Dead Online, other multiplayer games, and even some single-player titles that require a constant connection to PSN.
Online discussions suggest the issue might be serious, with some recalling the events of April-May 2011 when hackers breached the system, causing a disruption that lasted three and a half weeks. At that time, the attackers gained access to the personal data of over 77 million users. That incident cost Sony $171 mln.
