News about layoffs and the closure of yet another studio no longer surprises anyone. Following the video game boom during the pandemic, a decline in audience engagement was inevitable. What is far more surprising these days is news about large-scale hiring, something Rockstar Games has been doing for the past several years.

Rockstar Games remains one of the few companies in the gaming industry that is expanding its workforce rather than reducing it.

At first glance, the reason seems obvious: the company is developing GTA 6 — the most anticipated entertainment product in the world. But what happens after the game is released? That was exactly the question posed to CEO of Take-Two Strauss Zelnick, who responded:
We don’t see that in our company. We have a very low attrition rate at Rockstar. Take-Two’s overall attrition rate is about half that of the industry average. And we have a lot of work to do after the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. I have no reason to believe that we’ll see any changes on composition of the team here.
It seems likely that Rockstar’s next major objective will be launching a new multiplayer experience capable of matching the success of GTA Online, followed by supporting it for as long as possible.

Moreover, as we know, beginning work on the next project immediately after completing the previous one has long been standard practice at Rockstar Games. But what exactly lies ahead? RDR 3? Or perhaps the revival of a long-forgotten franchise, such as Bully 2?
