The timer on the Steam page suggests that the update for GTA 5 will become available at 12:00 GMT (07:00 ET). We’ve already completed the preload and transferred the Story Mode save. Now we just need to figure out how to switch from Legacy to Enhanced for those playing GTA Online.
- No preliminary actions are required. Since multiplayer saves are stored on the developers’ servers, the transfer occurs directly after launching Enhanced. Progress can be transferred from the Landing Page or through the Pause Menu.
- This can only be done once. However, you can continue playing Legacy, though Progress will not sync between versions, and you cannot transfer it back to the standard version.
- The process takes some time, and during this period, Grand Theft Auto Online will not be available in any form until a notification of successful completion appears.
- During the transfer, player Progress, Characters, GTA$, Stats, Vehicles, Properties, Weapons, Clothing, and Created Jobs are all duplicated.
- If you play Enhanced first and then transfer Progress from Legacy, any earned and unspent money will disappear.
- After the transfer, you can create a new Character, overwriting the old one, or continue with the existing Character.
- Changes made to Created Jobs in Legacy will appear in Enhanced, but not vice versa. Edits made in Enhanced are only available in this version.
- Player ratings are the same in both the updated and previous versions.
- GTA$ purchased with Shark Cards after March 4th will be credited to bank accounts in both Legacy and Enhanced. Essentially, donators now receive twice as much.
