“Insider Info” on GTA 6 Online: No Lobbies, 96-Player Sessions, and More

Well, since we’ve started questioning the “insider info” from one particular source, we’ll have to keep doing it — if only to reduce the amount of misinformation circulating online. So, the new article claims to reveal supposed details about the multiplayer mode in GTA 6.
  • Codename — GTA6MP.
  • The multiplayer mode was developed with cloud technologies in mind, but the shutdown of Google Stadia has thrown the concept into question.
  • The semi-peer-to-peer architecture known as Fluid Access has seen technical improvements.
  • One of the main goals is to eliminate endless loading screens and lobbies, aiming for a smoother gameplay experience.
  • The maximum number of players per session is 64, though developers are trying to raise it to 96.
If last week we were offered what couldn’t be confirmed as outright fabrications but looks like that, then what we’re seeing now is more akin to guesswork and speculation (aside from the specific names), which isn’t hard to come up with. It’s obvious that the multiplayer component of Grand Theft Auto VI will be far more refined than GTA Online, whose success and longevity the developers never really anticipated — and certainly didn’t design the game to be as expansive as it became.
