11We regularly take a look at Remedy’s latest financial report to see how the company is doing — and, of course, to find out what’s happening with the Max Payne 1&2 Remake. Well, things aren’t looking too bright this time.
FBC: Firebreak, the first-person co-op shooter set in the Control universe, has received mixed reviews and is underperforming commercially, dragging the Finnish studio into losses. Because of this, CEO Tero Virtala — whom you might remember from answer about the remake’s reveal — has stepped down after nine years in the position. However, this won’t affect Control 2 or the Max Payne remake — both projects remain in active development. There’s no reason to worry about the latter at all: funding comes directly from Rockstar Games, so internal changes at Remedy won’t impact it. Everything now depends on when R* decides to release it. Could that happen as soon as next year? It would make a perfect warm-up before GTA 6.
