PlayStation Blog Game of the Year Awards 2025: Featuring GTA Online, But Not GTA 6

0The official PlayStation Blog has launched its voting for the best video games of 2025, offering 19 categories to choose from, open until at 23:59 pm PT on December 8 / 2:59 am ET or 07:59 am UTC on December 9.
A distinctive feature of this more formal award — one without ceremonies or trophies — is that the Most Anticipated Game of 2026 and Beyond (yes, years, not just the next year) cannot feature the same title twice. That’s why GTA 6 is missing from the list of contenders; it already won this title based on the 2023 results.
Mafia: The Old County is also not among the preselected nominees, though in principle you can write in your own choice in any category. Even MindsEye.
GTA Online, however, is included in the list of Best Ongoing Games. There it faces a dozen other titles, including Fortnite — a game that already beat Grand Theft Auto Online to the Platinum award back in 2023.
