Trailer and Details for the Winter GTA Online Update: Michael, Pets, and More

6Today, and quite expectedly, the developers offered a closer look at the upcoming GTA Online expansion: A Safehouse in the Hills, coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One at an unusual time — not on Tuesday as previously suggested (judging by the current GTA+ period and the loading screen), but on Wednesday, December 10.
The trailer picks up exactly where the teaser left off and, over the course of one minute, showcases a huge number of new features. Music track: Fandango — Autos, Moda Y Rock n Roll.
And that assumption turned out to be spot on. After you purchase elite housing, Michael and his now-blonde wife Amanda show up at your door to congratulate you on the move. Our new neighbors look a bit older (understandably — it’s been twelve years!), but even in their mid-50s to 60s, they’re instantly recognizable both by appearance and voice. As in the original game, they’re played by Ned Luke and Vicki Van Tassel.
Michael himself hasn’t changed one bit. He’s still smashing TVs with chairs, still trying to avoid trouble (never successfully), and still willing to pick up a gun when it inevitably comes calling.
It’s unclear whether other members of the De Santa family will appear. We’ve already seen Jimmy working at the Arcade, taking part in the Casino Heist, and buying weed, but the whereabouts of Tracy, the older daughter, remain unknown. For now?
Avi Schwartzman, the recurring hacker, cryptically mentions someone who’s coming for us, possibly hinting at an AI threat.

Familiar Faces
Fans had long speculated that if the new DLC centers around mansions, then the returning character should logically be Michael — one of GTA 5 protagonists and the last of the trio yet to appear in GTA Online. After all, he owns a mansion himself, making him an easy narrative bridge to the Online protagonist. And that assumption turned out to be spot on. Mansions
As expected, there will be three mansions: on Buen Vino Road in Tongva Hills (where Devin Weston lived), Ace Jones Drive (near Miguel Madrazo), and Marlowe Drive (next to the VINEWOOD sign) in Vinewood Hills. The yard includes plenty of new comforts and first-time multiplayer features: lounging on deck chairs, sitting poolside, doing yoga (ported from story mode), and lifting weights (your avatar likely won’t change visually, but your Strength stat might). And, notably, we’re getting pets! Judging by screenshots, you’ll be able to own a dog and/or a cat. Now let’s step inside. The centerpiece is an AI-powered concierge with three personality modes (two confirmed: Haviland and Angel). It will handle chores, assist with business operations (for example, speeding up production), and generally help manage your empire. Players are speculating that Cliffford might return — and even if not, the AI could still cause problems. After all, Michael smashed one of the monitors, and the estate is filled with screens and consoles. Interiors come in three styles, each customizable with Accessories just like the Master Penthouse in Casino. There’s no shortage of rooms. And that’s still not everything. Owning a mansion unlocks more features.Vehicles
At least six new vehicles have been confirmed so far: a Pfister sports car (previous screenshot), a new Pfister supercar (next), the Vapid FMJ MK V (GTA+ members get early access), a Karin-based autonomous taxi from KnoWay (featured in a chase that you may be able to control), plus two more cars from the trailer and teaser. Some models will support HSW Performance Upgrades.- More vehicles — including non-weaponized aircraft — can be fitted with a Missile Lock-On Jammer.
- Police fleets will be expanded.
- More cars will be added to the Drift category.
What Else?
- A Mission Creator — a full toolkit for building your own missions with selectable game mechanics, custom objectives, and character placement.
- Missions that don’t require owning a Mansion.
- Freemode events.
- A set of gameplay improvements.
- GTA+ will gain remote to Manage Staff Members remotely at select businesses.
Conclusion
The A Safehouse in the Hills expansion looks nothing short of monumental — a true crown jewel built on twelve years of development. Today’s reveal has left the community extraordinarily impressed. And, of course, much of that excitement comes from the long-awaited return of Michael. This likely means he won’t appear in GTA 6 — which is perfectly fitting, as Mr. De Santa moved to Los Santos to retire, and that’s where his story should remain. The question of mansion pricing is still open. But it’s no coincidence that the loyalty program is offering a GTA$ 1 million bonus plus a GTA$2M discount. Rockstar also reportedly granted select content creators GTA$ 20 million to cover the cost of elite housing — likely indicating a minimum estimate.Rockstar is giving out GTA$20 million to fan creators for their first luxury property.
