Beast vs. Slasher in GTA Online

Beast vs. Slasher is an Adversary Mode that debuted in GTA Online in late December 2015 along with other Festive Surprises. Before the mass rotation of modes in September 2021, it offered bonus rewards during Halloween events and afterward became available only during seasonal rotations: • 2017 • 2018 • 2019 • 2020 • 43/2022 • 52/2022 • 38/2025 •

General Information

When the mode is active, it can be joined via an invitation, the main menu (if featured), the Featured Series marker at Legion Square, or through the Pause Menu (Online → Quick Join → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Adversary Modes). Players can set rounds from 1 to 2 wins. When a slasher kills a beast, they take its place in the next round. All players can participate regardless of rank, with 4–10 players divided into four teams: Beasts and three kinds of Slashers.

Team: Beasts

Beasts are unarmed but possess supernatural abilities. They move and sprint much faster, can leap great distances, and turn invisible. Super Jump controls:

• PC — hold RMB (right mouse button) and press Space (hold it longer for a higher jump);
• PS5 and PS4 — hold L2 (left trigger) and press Square (hold it longer for a higher jump);
• Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One — hold LT (left trigger) and press X (hold it longer for a higher jump).

Invisibility:

• PC — hold RMB (right mouse button) and press E;
• PS5 and PS4 — hold L2 (left trigger) and press Right D-Pad;
• Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One — hold LT (left trigger) and press Right D-Pad.

Using beast abilities consumes health (which is much higher than normal, but abilities cannot be used when it’s too low). Beasts have only one life, but their health regenerates quickly if they stand still. However, staying still too long reveals a blip on the map and radar. The same marker briefly appears after each checkpoint. The main objective is to collect 15 checkpoints per map. Beasts win once all are collected. Killing slashers is optional — though kill count can affect final placements. Needless to say, a beast kills with a single hit, which can be great fun. But the best tactic for victory is to focus on the checkpoints.

Team: Slashers

Slashers must prevent the beasts from collecting checkpoints. Time works in their favor — if 10 minutes run out, they win. They are essentially regular players wearing masks, but unlike beasts, they have unlimited respawns. Their arsenal is limited, with everyone receiving the same weapons except for one special slot:

• Knife,
• Flashlight,
• Pistol .50 (with Flashlight),
• Flare Gun,
• Carbine Rifle,
• Pump Shotgun (with Flashlight),
• Heavy Rifle (with Advanced Scope).

The special weapon depends on the team: Demolition — RPG, Assault — Railgun, Heavy — Minigun. The Heavy team is the most fortunate — they get a full ammo reserve (9999 rounds), while others only have two shots, which don’t replenish even after death. That’s why every pull of the trigger counts. An RPG blast can knock a beast down, leaving it open for those with miniguns to finish the job. Coordinated fire is key to success.

Slashers can also activate thermal vision (press E on PC or Right D-Pad on consoles) to counter beast invisibility. However, its range is very limited, so it’s only useful at close distance.
