15Slasher is an Adversary Mode in GTA Online, first introduced in October 2015 as part of the Halloween Surprise update. Before many modes were moved into rotation, Slasher used to offer increased rewards during the Halloween period, after which it would only return for the event each year: • 2017 • 2018 • 2019 • 2020 • 2021 • 42/2022 • 44/2022 • 42/2023 • 43/2023 • 42/2024 • 43/2024 • 40/2025 • 42/2025 •
This mode has some unique scoring rules. If both timers run out and each team still has one survivor, both sides are counted as defeated. After a winning round, all survivors on the Hunted team are credited with a win, regardless of who killed the Slasher. In certain situations, even players who didn’t personally win enough rounds may still be counted as overall winners if they were part of the Hunted team.

General Information
When available, the mode can be joined via an invitation, through the main menu (if it’s featured there), from the Featured Series marker at Legion Square, or from the pause menu (Online → Jobs → Play Job → Rockstar Created → Adversary Modes). You can set the number of rounds required to win from 1 to 4 (default is 2). Any player level can join. Between 2 and 8 players participate, split into two teams: Slasher and Hunted. This mode has some unique scoring rules. Team: Slasher
The Slasher must hunt down and kill the Hunted. They’re equipped with a Pump Shotgun fitted with a flashlight (activated with the E key on PC or the right D-pad button on consoles) and 40 shells, as well as a Machete (replaced with a Pipe Wrench on the Ramius Submarine map). The Slasher has 3 minutes to complete the task. The match takes place in dimly lit or pitch-dark environments, so the flashlight is often essential to spot targets. When using the shotgun, it’s best to engage from a distance, as Hunted can knock you out in close quarters with their flashlights. If the Victims group up and corner you — say, near a doorway — escape can be extremely difficult but not impossible. Use dodge rolls or quick jumps to get out of tight spots. In narrow corridors, the machete may be more reliable. If time runs out, all surviving Victims receive shotguns of their own — now the tables turn, and the Slasher becomes the hunted. If the Slasher survives this phase, they retain the role for the next round.Team: Hunted
The Hunted (1–7 players) must survive using only Flashlights. However, using the light is risky, as it reveals their position to the Slasher. The safest approach is to rely on your knowledge of the map, the radar (which does not show teammates), and sound—Victims can hear the Slasher’s footsteps and actions, but he can’t hear them. Controllers also vibrate when the Slasher gets close, providing another clue. Coordinated teamwork can pay off: if several players set up an ambush and attack together, they might overpower the Slasher — but it’s a high-risk move, as one mistake can wipe out the entire group. A Victim who kills the Slasher takes over their role in the next round. After three minutes, all surviving Victims receive a shotgun with a flashlight and 80 shells. At this point, they gain the upper hand — especially if it’s not a one-on-one duel. If only two players remain, the match becomes a fair showdown.Maps
