Today, a seemingly ordinary Scottish musician named Drew Larg passed away. Few people — even in his homeland — may recognize the name. He doesn’t have a Wikipedia page or many Google search results, but there’s one fascinating fact in his biography. Once upon a time, a studio from his hometown of Dundee hired him to work on a country-style track.

That song was The Ballad Of Chapped Lips Calhoun by ‘Sideways’ Hank O’Mally & The Alabama Bottle Boys, created for GTA 1 — back in the days when each in-game radio station played just one track. Drew Larg was the voice of Hank O’Mally.
The news of his death was shared by Colin Anderson, the producer behind the music of the first two Grand Theft Auto games.
