For the second year in a row, the developers have launched a themed week with open-wheel cars in GTA Online (2024, 2025), timed neatly right before the Miami Grand Prix. Formula 1 has responded in kind — though its interest is increasingly drawn to the hype around GTA 6.
Ahead of last year’s race, British broadcaster Sky Sports released a promotional video styled after the Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1. Naturally, it featured Tom Petty — Love is a Long Road and plenty of imagery associated with the iconic video game series. This spring, the concept was picked up by the French broadcaster of the championship, Canal+. They were joined by the F1 team itself, which posted a short video filled with visual and audio cues instantly recognizable to fans of the franchise.
But that’s not all! Just over a week ago, Ferrari’s official channel published a video featuring the team’s drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, discussing their favorite video games. Together, they agreed that GTA 5 tops the list. They also admitted they can’t wait for the next installment and know they’ll need to clear their schedules when it drops.
