Insider Casts Doubt on GTA 6 Release Date

In the penultimate episode of their podcast, the staff at Insider Gaming discussed some interesting details about GTA 6. This drew the community’s attention, since one of the four hosts was Tom Henderson, well-known for his inside scoops. However, this time he stuck to his own opinions.

Players’ excitement for Hollow Knight: Silksong — a hit that fans have been waiting for more than eight years — already crashed digital stores. It’s scary to imagine what will happen once Grand Theft Auto VI drops. To prevent chaos, the option to pre-load the game is essential. The group agreed it would be best to allow pre-loads a month before release, meaning late April. But nobody asked the obvious question: what about leaks? GTA VI could end up being pirated long before launch if it’s downloadable that far in advance. The publisher and developer are unlikely to take that risk. Much more likely, pre-loading will only open a couple of days beforehand, leaving pirates little time to crack the game. The most realistic scenario would be unlocking pre-load on Sunday, May 24, similar to how new GTA Online updates are handled.

That is, of course, if GTA 6 isn’t delayed again — something Tom Henderson himself hinted at. He doesn’t have concrete information, but he doubts the game will launch in May next year.
Rockstar are perfectionists. The new entry in the series is so monumental that even the slightest bug — like a door glitch — would be enough for the media to run with it.
Tom believes October would be the ideal release month — and it’s hard to argue with that. Likewise with his claim that if a second delay really is coming, it will be announced in 2026. More precisely, in February, when Take-Two publishes its next financial report.
