A week after the release of Mafia: The Old Country, actor Riccardo Frascari, who played Enzo, said in an interview with Dan Allen that all he knows is the developers plan to continue the series. And just two days ago, actress Carina Conti, who lent her face and voice to Isabella, confirmed during a playthrough stream that the next Mafia game has been greenlit.
We haven’t embedded the videos here since both contain heavy story spoilers.
For now, it’s unclear what exactly Hangar 13 is working on. It could be a full-fledged Mafia IV, a remake of the second game, or a direct sequel to the prequel. In the near future, though, the only news we can realistically expect is about the upcoming Free Ride mode.

All we can assume is that Take-Two must be pleased with the financial results. Since we won’t see the official numbers until the company’s November financial report, let’s turn to GameDiscoverCo estimates, which are close to those of other analysts.

Mafia: The Old Country was Steam most profitable release in August, generating $18.8 million. And that’s not even half the total revenue, since console sales were stronger:
  • 622,600 — PS5 and PS5 Pro,
  • 427,600 — PC (Steam),
  • 159,600 — Xbox Series X/S.

The undisputed number one in revenue among August releases on Steam. By unit sales, the gap with other projects was small. On consoles, there was no way to outsell the annual American football simulator. A third of our readers planned to buy the game.

So in total, the new Mafia has indeed sold over a million copies (1.1–1.2M), as confirmed by two different agencies.

Meanwhile, today the developers released a small update (under 500 MB on PS5), fixing several issues, including some tied to achievements/trophies.
