Insider: GTA 6 Was Tested on Nintendo Switch 2

The internet is actively discussing whether GTA 6 could come to the newly released Switch 2. The whole story began with information from a rather unreliable source, which prompted responses from well-known insiders with solid track records.

Claims that a version for Nintendo’s new console supposedly exists have been denied. According to NateTheHate, Rockstar Games did run tests to see if Grand Theft Auto VI could launch on the hybrid console, but this does not mean a port is planned, and he isn’t aware of the current state of things.

Kiwi Talkz, who frequently speaks with various developers, says he hasn’t heard anything of the sort from anyone. He suggests that Take-Two might be interested in the platform’s large audience, and Nintendo could potentially offer a favorable deal, but for now the interviewer remains skeptical.

He also points to the example of GTA 5, which was once evaluated for the Nintendo Wii U — a console released a year before the game — but nothing ever came of it.

There’s also the question of whether the NS2 could even handle GTA VI. There are doubts, as its performance appears closer to the PS4 Pro than to the PS5. In some areas, it compares to the Xbox Series S, which would be sufficient. But for now, we should at least hope to see RDR 2 on the Switch 2 alongside the other expected versions.
