8Dan Houser — whose big interview we went over literally the day before yesterday — is currently in London. This Saturday he’ll appear at the Forbidden Planet store, where from 1 to 2 PM (local time) he’ll meet fans and sign autographs to promote his comic American Caper, which is already on sale.
And on Sunday, the author made his first-ever TV appearance, visiting the Sunday Brunch talk show on Channel 4 to promote his new book A Better Paradise. But the biggest piece of publicity — the one that got people talking the most — was, of course, the insider report revealing the real reason Dan Houser left Rockstar Games. According to the report, he departed because of disagreements with his brother Sam, the head of the company, over its direction. The specifics aren’t detailed. Maybe it had to do with the studio’s decision to stop releasing story-driven DLC, or with how their games began coming out far less frequently. Maybe it was the shift in company policy that killed the rockstar spirit and everything that came with it. Perhaps all of the above played a part in his resignation.
