Florida Governor Candidate Promises 24-Hour GTA 6 Marathon

17Politicians are increasingly using GTA 6 for self-promotion. Some treat it as a target for attacks, as seen in calls to ban the game over its “destructive and vulgar content”; others use it as a way to distract public attention; and some try to build an image of being a “regular guy”.
One of the candidates for governor of Florida, James Fishback, has promised that if he is elected (the election will take place on November 3, two weeks before the game’s release), the governor’s mansion will host a 24-hour Grand Theft Auto VI marathon. Top students from public schools will be invited and given a chance to “play a little”.
The 31-year-old CEO of investment firm Azoria claims that Florida (the prototype for Leonida, the state where GTA VI is set) “needs a governor who can do a little carjacking in Grand Theft Auto”, but “doesn’t condone beating up hookers”.
The young entrepreneur also says he played GTA: San Andreas as a child, which he describes as an interesting game.
That said, his chances of winning are fairly low — according to some polls, James Fishback is attracting only a few percent of the vote.
