9For longtime fans of the series, it’s no secret that developers at Rockstar Games constantly draw inspiration from popular culture — films, TV shows, personalities, events, and more. Movies, in particular, are a major source. For now, we can only speculate which specific films influenced GTA 6, but fans are eagerly forming their own theories.
The story of Bonnie and Clyde is clearly reflected. The community has also suggested that the narrative arc might resemble the film The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), although in my personal opinion, only certain elements could have been borrowed from it — the full story simply doesn’t quite fit. Now, one fan has put forward an interesting and quite compelling theory: that Jason may have been inspired by the main character from Harsh Times (2005).

- Christian Bale’s character, Jim Davis (JD, much like Jason Duval), visually resembles the protagonist of Grand Theft Auto VI.
- Jim has a Latina girlfriend named Letty (starting with L, just like Lucia).
- He also grew up around gangs and has military training — he served as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan. He has a unit tattoo on his left arm. All of this aligns with Jason’s description, whose in-game unit is called Marauders.
- In the film, Jim is involved in drug transportation from Mexico and has connections with federal agents, which already overlaps with Jason by about 50%. He also speaks Spanish, which is typical for residents of Leonida (Florida), even though the film’s events take place in
