Free Ride Update Released for Mafia: The Old Country

Three months after revealing their future plans, the developers have finally released the Free Ride update for Mafia: The Old Country. It’s now available on all platforms (9 GB and 3.75 GB on consoles) and completely free for all players. A lot of new content has been added:

• Free Ride mode (replaces the current Explore mode) with new locations and secrets;
• 3 Circuit Race;
• 3 Road Sprint;

• 6 Time Trials;
• 3 Horse Races;

• 4 Assassinations (eliminate a specific target using stealth);
• 5 Standoffs (survival against multiple enemy waves);

• 2 Cars;
• 3 Guns;
• 4 Knives;
• 3 Charms;
• 16 Outfits;
• 3 Hats (can be combined with any outfit).

They’ve also added plenty of useful and interesting features:

• First-person driving;

• Photo mode (lets you take pictures with a wide range of settings);

• Cinema Siciliano mode (similar to the Noir mode from the remake of the first game; turns Enzo’s adventure into a full movie experience with themed audio/visual effects and Sicilian voiceover enabled by default);

• Classic difficulty (enemies are tougher, unused rounds are discarded when reloading, etc.);
• Ability to switch between four weather presets:
  • Sunrise,
  • Afternoon,
  • Foggy,
  • Ashfall.

The trophy/achievement list has also been expanded with five new entries. One is earned for completing the game on Classic difficulty, while the rest are tied to various accomplishments in Free Ride mode.

Tomorrow, November 21, a trial version of the Mafia prequel will become available to PlayStation Plus Premium (Deluxe) subscribers.
