Many Speculations Surrounding the GTA 6 Release Date

Since our last discussion on the GTA 6 release date, numerous theories, assumptions, and fantasies have surfaced. Covering each one separately doesn’t make much sense, so we’ve compiled the latest ones in one place.

The most bizarre and unrealistic claim, surprisingly, did not come from fans but from the CEO of Corsair during the company’s latest financial report. According to journalist, the head of the company, which specializes in PC hardware, believes that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on consoles this fall, with a PC release in early 2026. This statement seems absurd, as the gap between console and PC releases has only widened with each new installment, making a one- to one-and-a-half-year delay more plausible. Why make such a claim? In this case, it’s unlikely he has any insider knowledge, but he does have a direct interest in selling more products.

Kotaku caused a stir with an article titled: “We Basically Know When GTA 6 Is Coming Out Now”. Based on the expected September release of Borderlands 4, the authors suggest October 28 as the possible — though not certain — GTA VI release date. In reality, they don’t know anything for sure and are merely speculating, using clickbait while ignoring the likelihood of a delay into the next year. Interestingly, on the game’s dedicated page on their website, they don’t list October 28 but rather December 30 — a placeholder date to avoid leaving the field blank (why not just put the official Fall 2025 instead?). Of course, no one is going to release the game just two days before New Year’s Eve.

Recently, the community has been actively discussing the possibility of a second trailer dropping in late March or early April. If that doesn’t happen, we might need to prepare for a delay. If a Fall 2025 launch is still the plan, the marketing campaign should be ramping up by now. Fans particularly like the idea that something new could be revealed on April 1 — April Fools’ Day, a perfect occasion for a serious announcement. Players might not even believe their luck at first. Another argument in favor of April 1 is its appearance on a mysterious in-game T-shirt, which previously predicted the exact release date of the first trailer. But would Rockstar use the same method to hint at future premieres? They might troll, but repeating the same trick seems unlikely. Either way, it’ll be an interesting Tuesday.

Another intriguing event is set to happen a week earlier. The legendary Game Informer magazine, which was shut down in the summer of 2024, is now teasing its return on March 25. Some speculate this could be the perfect opportunity to reveal the first official screenshots of GTA 6, given that the magazine has frequently published exclusive Grand Theft Auto content in the past. The question remains — does R* still need third-party platforms to promote its game? Previously, yes. Now? Probably not.
As we wait for official confirmation, so does the entire gaming industry. Many publishers are hesitant to announce their release dates without knowing when this future blockbuster will launch. One such company is EA, which is being cautious about the next Battlefield installment. No matter how big a title is, it won’t stand a chance against Grand Theft Auto VI.

Analyst Ben Porter from Newzoo suggests that this could even lead to some studios going to tank if they choose the wrong time to release their title.
